So very true!!! I have lived it and see that when your man is your best friend, you see no limits, conversation is open and lack of judgement… Just you being you and them being them!

I disagree whole heartedly on this. My husband and I became friends after many trials and challenges. Some would say we did thing backwards and we did but it all worked out and made us stronger and closer in the end.

I think always having that underlying connection definitely helps with building more confidence and trust from the beginning without question.

Life is always a gamble so why not play with your best hand?

I think so, other than your children, your partner should be the most important person in your life, no other friend or family member should ever come before them therefore making them your best friend as well as partner

I hear it both ways. It’s different for everyone. I met my girlfriend at work and we never were friends. We only hung out a few times before I asked her to date me.

I disagree. I could never date a friend. If you dont start off as friends and things dont work out then you havent really lost anything. Id feel worse being good friends , dating then loosing their friendship too. Ive seen it happen to so many people

I find the friendship side of a relationship to be really important. If all we’re building on is romantic feeling then we’ll be in trouble when those feelings settle. However, if we genuinely like a person then things will be good more consistently. I think it’s a far healthier basis for building a life together 🙂

Not true, we were friends first and it only lasted 5yrs, sucks…..it really doesn’t matter I guess you can be friends first or take it really slow,or just talk hang out only then lil later it becomes officially, then later few years or so you guys break up ,marriage too,so it doesn’t really matter at all wat the 2 of you do. I dont think its about being best friends. I just think too many people rush to label a relationship. I don’t think there should be a rush to call someone your boyfriend or girlfriend! When you’re with someone, I think becoming best friends should be a goal which happens over time and organically. Become an inseparable unit who compliment each other.

I think dating a friend that you’ve always thought of as “just as friend” for the whole period of knowing them is bad. But meeting someone for the first time, discussing that you should take things slow and get to know each other first before getting into a relationship, and remaining friends for the time being is a good idea. And then letting it transition naturally after you’ve gotten to know the person more. If that makes sense…

All the people who have had bad experiences with their “best friend” obviously did not realize to be true best friends it has to go both ways. One of you can call the other their best friend but the other thinks nothing like that.
