  • Not true. Some people really do love themselves or at least like themselves. But whether they do or do not we have the right to tell them no one else should either? No one should show them love bc they do or dont love themselves? What kind of sense does that make? If that’s the case then what point is there in any relationship? It’s like someone telling u ” O u love urself so I don’t need to show u anything.” Or ” O u don’t love urself so that means I don’t need to show u anything u have to fix it urself.” O ok so basically we don’t need anyone else’s love. Just our own? Well damn I’m gonna just marry myself and say fuck a relationship wtf do I need it for? In that case who needs the bible or gods love? Hm u think about it that way then no one should have to love or show love we should all just be assholes. Yep that’s the life!

  • Your lover should love you. Yours partner should love you too. It’s pretty simple. If your lover is not being supportive or loving you in the way you NEED them to love you and it’s causing you distress and they won’t work with you, then it’s time to let them go. Too many people get away with treating a partner poorly. Having strong sense of love for yourself will protect you from allowing this to continue, but on the other hand the person mistreating you is also accountable for their behavior.

  • No matter how good your heart is, eventually you have to start treating people the way they treat you just to let them know the FEEL.

  • To me this means that we should not to expect anything including love from others but loving yourself should be enough. The actions of others including the love from others should be in no way in opposition to your wishes, needs or wants. Not needing anyone to secure your happiness gives you the security to be happy with the true happiness of others. #jmho

  • But isn’t that the POINT!!!?? It is for me and I learn to love myself more because they show me and I love them so very much back for all the little things

  • Not even that…I mean yes but sometimes there is still a void that only God can fill. Love yourself and love your lover with everything you have but know that God created us to love him first. His love brings it all together perfect…thats the missing piece in any relationship I believe.

  • So true. It shouldn’t be someone else’s responsibility to make you love yourself. It’s unfair to give that task to someone. When people say, “it’s YOUR job to make me love myself” it angers me. No, MY job is to bring even more love into your life. The love should already be there. It becomes exhausting trying to make someone see what you see in them. Stop putting that on someone else. Love yourself!!!!

  • This couldn’t be more true. The fact of the matter is, however, a lot of us are not taught *how* to love ourselves.

Contrary to popular belief, this is not something that is just in us – the ability to love ourselves. It must be taught and nurtured.

  • Not technically true.. I love myself but I love my partner more than he love himself, he’s more logical and I’m more emotional support. It kind of balance each other out but still it’s not technically true.

  • It is incredibly important to love yourself and to be ok alone and by yourself, and not depend on another person for your happiness. To live yourself enough to not need another person to feel good about yourself.

  • Alot of the problem is lack of compromise. not like compromising everything, but discussion and agreement on things. And being open minded as long as your partner isn’t hurting you.

  • I love myself a lot but I can’t hug or cuddle myself I can’t bury my face into my chest and inhale the most intoxicating smell of a lover and feel at home and feel the world melt away….
