When my father passed away, of course my mom was devastated. She couldn’t sleep. I found the last pair of pajamas my dad had worn and I could smell him. I put them in a plastic bag so that Mom could open the bag so she could smell him to help her remember . When she passed away years later, going through her nightstand, I found them in the drawer. How I miss them both.

So very very true. I always think “I hope my husband smells the same in heaven as he did here”. The smell of him used to INSTANTLY calm me down when I was having a bad day, or was overwhelmed with something. That’s been one of the hardest things since he passed. Not having him wrap his arms around me, taking a deep breath in, and having my anxiety melt away with just that scent.
