“My boyfriend Dan and I have been together for a little over a year now. We met a few months before his college graduation from the U.S. Merchant Marine academy. He is from New Jersey and I’m from Long Island. When we first began our relationship, I had no idea that he would have to go to work on a cargo ship for half of the year! I definitely did not think that I could handle the time apart, but I really liked him and figured it was worth the shot. We spent as much time as we could together for several months before he took a job out of the port in New Orleans. He works a rotation of a month on and a month off. At first, I was completely devastated with him being away from me so much and I didn’t think that I could stand it. Being in the middle of the ocean for days at a time, he doesn’t have internet for email, let alone phones for texting! Now, I can honestly say that it has only made our time together that much more special. We go on trips all the time to make things exciting and give ourselves things to look forward to. (He even surprised me by taking me to Disney for Valentine’s day week!) I’ve learned more about who I am as a person because of him and we are completely in love. The time away and distance apart has done nothing to affect our relationship and we are so incredibly happy together. We trust each other completely in our time apart. We’re going to be moving in together in the next few months and are so eager to move our relationship to the next level. I can honestly say to anyone considering a long distance relationship, follow your heart. It CAN work, and it WILL make your time with that person so much more significant and meaningful than you could possibly imagine.”
That’s why I’m a army wife. Never give up on someone you truly love

The decision to love that person no matter the circumstances will prevail… Now its the distance… Next year it may be bad debt… Then five years down it can be bad health… At the end loove must reign to endure through it all!

Ciarra Gagan Dovey, after everything we have been through and all the obstacles we have faced and over come I know that you are the one. We are still faced with challenges, but there is no doubt in my mind that we won’t over come them and be standing stronger at the end of it all. It is true that the time spent together is so much more special I. A long distance relationship. I have gotten to know you so well and know that no matter what you will stand by my side. You are so much more then… Read more »

No Casey. That’s not necessarily true! If your “newness” wore off then I don’t think you were truly in love! There are not many people that are truly in love with each other anymore. People now a days don’t even know what love is. Everyone has their ups and downs…it is TRUE love that will hold them together no matter how rough it is.

I met my fiancé almost 8 years ago. He is career Army and deployed to Iraq after me met. Then an entire year in Korea and another year deployment in Afghanistan. We’ve been long distance from day 1 him in TX and me in MA and I am proud to say we are getting married next Saturday.

Long distance can work if you are dedicated. My boyfriend and I have been together a year and a half and we have always lived 5 hours apart. We see each other every 4-6 weeks for about 4 days and then we start the waiting process all over. It sucks but one day all the tears a missing each other will be worth it. We Skype almost every night and text all day long. We are completely devoted to each other in every single way. Long distance is possible no matter what anyone tells you.

Tom Brandli, you should be ashamed of that comment. Hundreds of thousands of men and women are away from their loved ones for extended periods of time just like this everyday. Why? Because they keep people like you living in a country you can live freely within, to do as you please. So don’t ” so what….boring….next” a comment that someone has gone out and willingly put their story out there for all to read, show compassion, strength and above all honour the one they love the most who sacrifices their time with their loved one to keep you in… Read more »

Allan, you’re an idiot. Believe it or not there are some men who actually want a real relationship and love the woman that they are with.. Which drives them to being faithful.
