You don’t give up because of that your mostly on hold well the one you love and you are basically have things to do that are pending some have family problems, some have issues, and etc it can be anything but in the end both people can still love each other. It varies on every person…

I actually interpreted it like this. Sometimes love requires you to make big sacrifices. Sometimes you have to suck it up and make them, otherwise, you’re holding up your own happiness.

Things can hold us back more then help us move forward, so we have to let go of the things that hold us back from becoming who we are meant to be.

If after u have done everything to be with someone and they keep u and ur life on hold that’s when u put an end to the hold game. In short we all know what it means in the end of it all and it means something different to each person.
