I couldnt agree more!!! Selfish non thinking people really annoy me. It is a partnership and before one gets into a relationship they need to understand this!! Loyalty is a must as well as respect!!

Yup let’s talk about selfishness….. just seen another like this the other day and it’s very true. When partners cheat physically or emotionally and deceive the other . They do it for themselves. Not the home, their children, the families well being. Thus so many broken homes. No one ever gets enough attention. They always need more. For me , my number 1 priority is my partnership with my children and home. Nothing else matters now.

Exactly. Selfishness also leads to them putting their needs before yours, and eventually leads to cheating and lying. There is absolutely no room to be selfish on a relationship.

There must first be a true partnership. If one person takes on 90% of financial responsibilities the relationship is lop-sided and the resentment builds and eventually there is total collapse

I have often heard that each partner should give 50%, but to make it a real partnership in marriage, each spouse needs to give 100%. That is the only way it will work.

I don’t think I believe in relationships anymore. The words I love you seem to mean nothing to most. How can you love so much and they just walk away? Because they never loved to begin with.

Selfishness is not just about cheating. Keeping a long story short, I know someone who’s been married for 8 years, 2 kids (7 & 3)….came home from the honeymoon and was laid off from his job. She works cushy gov’t job. Income not a problem. He tried everything to find work, but was without for awhile. Then, got a break into an industry known for long work hours, low pay, little-to-no stability…but he did it, he went to work, and the first kid came. Indeed!..as I’ve said before “it takes two to tango”, it should be give-take relationship and both have to work for their relationship for them to overcome consequences, challenges and obstacles that they are going to meet for sometimes.

I was willing to compromise and make it work, but my ex was too self centered and stuck up to even consider anything.
