I totally agree with this. It’s why I don’t hold eye contact long. ☺️

I hate eye contact it weirds me out or makes me feel intimidated. I pretty much will not do eye contact at all and hate it when others try to, makes me kind of want to bitch slap them.

True. By the way in my previous reply I said: bitten dog when I wanted say: beaten dog. But dog can de beaten and bitten too right? 👌👍

I don’t agree to that. I think words are more intimate than anything in this world… provided they are put in the right way at the right place.

Nah… they say “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Too, But I fail to see how my words could ever be contained by your simple picture frames.

As someone on the autism spectrum, I have to disagree. Words are way more meaningful than someone creepily looking into my eyes lol.

A conversation I overheard at a grocery store between a man and his wife. Wife: Do you think I’m pretty? Husband: Hell no. The only reason I make eye contact with you is because the rest of you is so hard to look at.

Reading the eye is just like reading the mind..heart and soul…it can never be more open and close…words are too feeble to come anywhere close to it…eye contact is an exhilarating experience!!

It really is. Should look up marina abramovic and watch her do an exhibit in a museum where she literally sits and makes eye contact with strangers. Its intense.

Reminds me of a poem and I’ve forgotten who wrote it but it goes like this: “Colin kissed me in the spring, Robin in the fall. Strephon only looked at me and never kissed at all. Colin’s kiss was lost in jest, Robin’s lost in play. But the kiss in Strephon’s eyes haunts me every day. ” Again borrowed words.

Sometimes..depends on the words (superficial vs. genuine) and depth of the dialogue. Eye contact is certainly a way of acknowledging the other person as a human being, and demonstrating that you truly are listening. I took this quote to be about regular human interaction/friendship/caring, not romantic

This is one of my biggest pet peeve’s! I hate when people don’t make eye contact when speaking to each other. Looking into someone’s eye, you can experience so much more than just conversation.

The summer in Portland while waiting for my train, in Starbucks and having conversation, but whenever it fell silent we could simply look into each other’s eyes comfortably and with gentle smiles, and that meant more to me than the kisses and love poems I’d received from many others before. He lives in Germany and I in Massachusetts, and maybe our lives will cross again, but even if they don’t I’ll cherish that I can feel that way with someone just from truly looking at each other.

It’s also a thousand times more terrifying. I always get yelled at for not making eye contact when I talk but it makes me so nervous and filled with anxiety.

Yep … and social networks … WhatsApp and all these dumb chatting platforms are annoying , fake , LAZY … REQUIRES NO EFFORT . You can have 500 imaginary “relationships / friendships’ over text for years. Lmfao . The world is gone toooo fake. Real life interaction always beats cheap , lazy , meaningless chatting. People fall in love with pictures and false , planned texted conversations. In a real life conversation you can’t take a million hours to strategically THINK and plot what to say. You have more chance of seeing the persons real personality across a table…. even… Read more »

Thinking back to July, on a bench in Barcelona, with the guy I love, how he looked away as he grabbed my shoulder and said “See you tomorrow” and as I squeezed his hand he looked me in the eyes and repeated it. He didn’t know then, he knows now, and I may have ruined it. I will still try and see if we can make it work, though <3

Ironic we put contacts into eyes… also does eye contact only mean one eye since eyes is plural… have you ever tried to look into two eyes at the same time…. it’s not possible maybe that’s why they call it eye contact singular… which eye do you look at? Do you think there is a difference between left eye contact and right eye contact?

And that’s why you don’t make eye contact with strangers. Don’t want them getting the wrong idea lol.
