At first I thought it meant two dates, like romantic ones, and the “dash” meant someone who splits because the date sucks and I was confused…leave me alone, I’m tired and it’s Friday.

In my case, there were two dates and then came the dash :/

We are out here celebrating that dash. Haha. What a great night.

Instead of a dash, what about a tilde (~). I think a better representation of life.

We have this entire poem posted on the wall of our hospice unit- just a beautiful reminder….

The dash.. that poem was read at my father and grandfathers funeral. Great one to listen too.

More like ‘I’ve only had two dates in my life and they both dashed away”! HA!

I’m painfully alone.

Apparently they don’t mean that you should make that dash “just after you dine.”

“I walk through graveyards and read the dashes between years, each a story I’ll never know. Sometimes I create my own.” Excerpt from *I Was Told To Write An About Me And This Is What Happened” by Kelsey Danielle. Full poem below. “Each time I’m asked to tell about myself, I find myself starting the same way: “My name is Kelsey and I’m nineteen..” but what I’d really like to say is: “My name means island of the ships but once I found a translation that said I’m a burning shipwreck- not a burning ship but a ship that has… Read more »

I had a hard time putting that speech together and I thought that poem was a perfect fit. I thought I might pass out reading it but I’m glad that people are still thinking of them two, I miss them a lot thank you for mentioning it

Spot on, never assume you’re going to have longer than today. If you feel certain things for someone TELL THEM! You want something GO FOR IT

Who knows about any after life, all that is certain is once you stop breathing you rot in the ground for a while, and become a memory.

Until someone figures out how to turn your being into a spark, transformers style, and then you can be cloned for infinity… sounds creepy. Does the “soul” go on in one or more copies? Would this be the equivalent of counterfeit “souls”? Can you be arrested for making illegal copies of “souls”? It’s all about soul, oh ,oh, oh…

Funny how much shit fits in that tiny dash- and how important it it. Now go pick up that 5 weight fly rod I left for you at my parents house you – asshole! I’ll send you flies!

I’m dashing thru the snow
Getting high today and
Laughing all the way ha ha ha
Bells and alarms may ring
Running thru the night
But when the cops see my ass
naked swingin pipe
Ohhh run like hell
Hope no one tells
They’re tryin to blow me away
Jumped a fence, to a residence
Gonna knock on yur door
Please let me in , I’ll be yur fren
And we’ll get high today

Rush if you must, but wouldn’t it be nice, To stop and look, at the wonders of life; The music, the art, literature of books The cultures, our stars, the tiniest bugs. Rush if you must, would it not be amazing, To stand still with time, on a mountain just gazing, Cold crisp air, the freshest blue sky, Moment; eternal, no time passes by. Rush if you must, but I just have to say; Tomorrow won’t come, gone is yesterday Forever is now, this point holds all doorways, sprit knows no age, this moment is always Rush if you must,… Read more »

For those that don’t get it:
The first date is the day you’re born; the second date is the day you die and the dash between represents your life. Think of it like on a tombstone.
And here’s the poem it’s from: http://www.linda-ellis.com/the-dash-the-dash-poem-by-linda-ellis-.html
