Interesting. It’s crazy how we do this with the people closest to us. We all do it to some extent. Some more than others of course. But it’s truth and honesty that gives us intimacy and human connection which is what could really help the healing process. It’s crazy how modern times have taught us to just tell people what they want to hear. It creates disconnect and furthers depression but I guess it leaves our pride in tact so that we can appear “normal” to everyone. It’s crazy. They should teach a class on this stuff in high school so… Read more »

My life on the regular. Gets harder and harder the older I get. And as the time goes by my willingness to be here is less and less. I will not die of natural causes. I will die by Suicide. Definitely. There will be no stopping it it. Not today. Unless some type of illness gets me first I will take my life by my own hand. Because I’m tired, and I don’t want to do it anymore.

I have a friend who is like that with his depression. He just shuts down and doesn’t talk to me. My depression on the other hand is the opposite. I need someone to talk to. And usually he’s the one I want to talk to. But I don’t know how to come right out and say I’m feeling down and need someone to talk to. I stupidly send random memes hoping one will spark up a conversation. But I tend to go overboard and he just gets quieter. They say opposites attract. But it seems with us. Opposites clash. I… Read more »

Yes, let’s set a dinner date. Pick the place you are most familiar and comfortable and the food comforts you too. Smile.

I’ll be honest. I’m not depressed, and I don’t believe I’ve ever been depressed in my life, even when I had to cope with my mother’s death. But reading this just made me feel sad, like it gave me a glimpse of what it’s like. Depression sounds like a trap you can never escape, and it breaks my heart that there are people who have to live through this. I have a friend who used to tell me that’s how she feels a long time ago, when she was depressed and suicidal. It was about a decade ago. Back then… Read more »

It’s sickening how many people can relate to this. This world is nothing but cruel and mean anymore, people wonder why so many people do drugs and drink themselves to sleep or blow their brains out on a daily like crazy. The cruel world will never even consider to listen or even understand just the slightest bit until you’re gone and it was to late. Everyone becomes you’re friend then.

Yes! People say lots with what they don’t say. You just have to be willing to listen to the unspoken stuff.

We all pretend to be happy and healthy…. it’s our society today, thinking positive, being positive, acting positive… But there is no good without bad, black without white and positivity without negativity. But we all keep on pretending no matter what

It’s interesting to see how people are reading this 2 ways. One is: the person I sent this text to crossed out (ignored) my feelings and only read the good parts. The 2nd is: I almost sent this whole text to my friend but decided to cut out my explanations and tried to focus on the positive instead. – just an observation ✌️❤️

When I feel a bout of depression coming on, I am open about it to people around me. I’ve been through this before, it will last a while but I will get better. Friends and family tend to ask me out to keep me from feeling sad and that helps. I feel so blessed every day for the inspiration they bring! To me, it is an occasion to get to know myself better and take charge of the changes that have to occur for me to feel better at the end of it all…

It reminds me a letter i wrote to one of my “friend”, that’s exactly what she read, only good part, not the reality i was going through.

This goes to show how often we neglect to really make an effort to show we care. To listen and to be present. Those who you consider family, cherish and love!

I need to read this when it seems like forever for my friend to text me back. It’s probably the reason why. 😞

I may be mistaken, but it seems that the point is that this message is in a text. This is a conversation that should be shared in person. It’s sad that texting has taken the place of conversation.

This is so true. There are also physical conditions(i.e., Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Degenerative disc disease, etc.) that are invisible to others, but can become so acute that a person can’t get out of bed. It’s hard if not impossible to try to explain how you can look so healthy but be so sick. 😢
