My best friend is my husband of of 13 years. I will never allow someone of the opposite sex take that place. That is my husband’s spot and his alone. If more couples realized that your spouse is supposed to be your best friend and the one you turn to instead of someone you do not share a bed and a life with maybe, just maybe more marriages would make it and not end in divorce. Just a thought.

Friendships with the opposite sex are not bad; however, when in a committed relationship with someone there has to be clear boundaries with that friendship that are not to be crossed. As a man wants to feel respected, a woman wants to feel safe and secure in her relationship but if she has to bide for his time, attention or affection from another person, insecurity and jealousy arise. Then come the problems. Not good!

Sigh. People here are oversexualized children with no self control? My best friend of 27 years is a guy yet it never even occurred to us to sleep together. Wth is wrong with you if you think that everyone had as little self-control as you?! And no, my husband doesn’t think anything of it because I have never given him reason to doubt.

Most of the time he IS more than a friend on the low. Or was more of a friend in the past. Or will be more than a friend in the future. The “universe” doesn’t think that for nothing.

I find this to be crap; I actually do have male friends, everyone knows it and no one says “they’re not just your friend.” I also date men, adult men who understand this. Men who might have a platonic female friend or friends. The difference? We don’t hide them from each other, we communicate our expectations and feelings about it; if you wouldn’t introduce your significant other to that opposite sex friend then that’s when you have a problem.

Blah! Friendzone crap. Not me…I have a VERY select few and far between female pals who are married and I will on occasion hang with her and her hubby, who I am also friends with. But I dont do the platonic crap with single gals. We are dating or we are vague acquaintances.

I have two male friends that I love dearly && have helped me and been there for me through my ups and downs. A man also deserves to have that too. I’ve known one of them for 8 years & the other 15 years.

Which is very sad indeed. I have many male friends that are “just friends ” always have. Always will. I think there is something wrong with people who can’t just be friends with the opposite sex, or who think that men and women can’t be just friends.

Not every girl. I don’t. If youre in a relationship, there needs to be boundaries and respect. Not to say you cant have friends of the opposite sex, but I’ve seen a lot of people (I admit, mostly women), push those boundaries to the point of being completely inappropriate and its disrespectful of your relationship. Besides, my boyfriend is my best friend 🙂

Whatever happened to people of the opposite sex just being friends? can someone please explain to me a man and woman can’t be friends without everyone reading more into it? Ok I would understand if every time a girl met up with a male friend or vice versa, they ended up in bed. Speaking from personal experience, if the whole universe is saying he/she is not “just a friend”, listen. Intently. Whole-heartedly. Sometimes we don’t see what everyone else does. That opens us up to things we swore would never happen; things that will absolutely bite us in the ass. Heed the warnings of those who truly care about you.
